ITV HD satellite changes: better signals?
As I mentioned a few weeks ago in another post , it looked like there were to be some changes to ITV HD frequencies on UK satellite TV in the coming weeks.
We noted that all the ITV HD channels on frequency 11.097 V had been copied onto frequency 11.344 H SR 27500 FEC 2/3 DVB-S2 8PSK
We can now confirm that both Freesat HD set top box and Sky HD digiboxes are now using the new ITV1 HD frequency.
These ITV HD frequency changes will affect people watching the following ITV HD channels
Meridian SE,
Meridian South,
Yorkshire West,
Anglia West,
Central East,
Border Scotland
and ITV3
However, it appears that this new ITV HD frequency is a lot “stronger” and had better reception in the Costa Blanca and Valencia areas of Spain than their previous frequency.
IT may also mean that ITV may try to fit one or two more ITV HD regions onto this frequency, as there is some spare capacity on this frequency. With this spare capacity ITV could move the three ITV1HD regions (Central West on 12.168V, Meridian East on 12.226H, and London on 12.363V ) that are currently transmitting on the weaker “borrowed” Sky frequencies? If so that would be good news for people in my service area with a 125x135cm satellite dish as it would mean reception of these three regions is much improved.
Note that users of Freesat set top boxes and Sky HD digiboxes should not need to do anything, as these should automatically update to the new frequencies.
Users of other types of satellite receivers, or TV with built in satellite receivers, will have to perform a channel scan to watch these channels on their new frequency…assuming that the channels will be removed very shortly from their previous frequency.
Satellite Frequencies for ITV Channels can be found here.
Update 10/09/24 : As expected the ITV channels on 11097 have ceased transmissions, moving to 11.344 H SR 27500 FEC 2/3 DVB-S2 8PSK
