More Channel 4 SD frequency changes
Channel 4 are continuing to change and move their SD channels around on the UK TV Astra 2 satellites.
This time a handful of SD channels operated by Channel 4 have moved to a new frequency. This move has essentially meant that all SD channels operated by Channel 4 are now located on the same single Astra 2 satellite frequency.
Today Channel 4 London+1, Channel 4 South & East+1, E4 UK+1, Film 4 UK+1, 4Seven have all moved to frequency 10714 H 22000 5/6.
Their old frequency, 10936 V 22000 5/6 DVBS, is expected to be changed to the DVBS2 transmission standard. This is expect to be in preparation to moving the 5 Channel 4 HD regions that are currently transmitting on “borrowed” Sky frequencies over onto a Channel 4 operated frequency.
For people in the Valencia and Costa Blanca North area of Spain, and other fringe reception areas, this should be good news. The change should mean increased reception of these 5 Channel 4 HD regions, as their current frequencies are “tricky” to receive.
This process is not new, with other UK TV broadcasters moving to more HD only transmissions. In January 2023, the BBC ceased all SD satellite transmissions. And in October 2024, ITV have confirmed that their ITV1 and ITV2 channels will be only available in HD only. ,
Note that if you are using a Sky HD, or Freesat HD receiver, then any frequency changes made to channel will automatically be updated for you.
If you are using any other type of satellite receiver, then most of these will not automatically update, so you will have to manually scan for the channels should you wish to continue to watch them.
