No ITV1 on Sky Channel 803? Here is Why!
If you have lost access to your ITV1 SD on Sky channel number 803, then you are not alone.
In fact, ITV have today closed their ITV1 standard definition (SD) channel on Sky channel 803.
Yesterday ITV1 SD on Freesat channel 111 was be removed.
This is part of ITVs transition to HD only broadcasting on UK satellite TV, as we have reported in previous posts (here and here)
ITV1 SD on Sky channel 803 was used by some Sky HD users in weak signal areas like Spain as they are are unable to receive an ITV1 HD region on Sky channel 103. This is especially so for people using satellite dishes smaller than the recommended (since 2012) 125x135cm satellite dish.
As an alternative, ITV1 +1 is currently still available on Sky channel 203, on a nice and strong signal.
Unlike Freesat, where you are able to change your ITV1 HD region on 103, on Sky HD boxes the ITV1 HD region you are allocated on Sky channel 103 is determined by the address of your Sky viewing card. So on Sky HD boxes you cannot change the ITV1 HD region on Sky channel 103.
But there is a work around.
How to manually add different ITV1 HD regions to your Sky HD digibox
You can manually add a different ITV1 HD region to your “Other Channels” list on your Sky HD box.
If you can receive ITV2 HD on Sky channel 118, make a note of this frequency : 11386 H DVB-S2 8PSK 27500 2/3.
If you can receive ITV3 HD on Sky channel 119, make a note of this frequency : 11344 H DVB-S2 8PSK 27500 2/3.
If you can receive ITV4 HD on Sky channel 120, make a note of this frequency : 11386 V DVB-S2 8PSK 27500 2/3.
Now you go into your Services menu, and into Add Channels.
Here you can input the frequency noted above, and perform a scan.
Again an ITV1 HD region, press the yellow button on your remote, and it places a “tick”
Then save.
This manually added ITV1HD region will not be added to your channel list.
This manually added ITV1HD region will added to your “other channels” list, accessed via the Services menu.
Note that for some users this other channels list may be blocked, as it may require a sky viewing card to “unlock” this.
If you are unable to receive ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD or ITV4 HD, then you will not be able to receive ITV1 HD either. This may be because your satellite dish is too small for where you are. In my service area the recommended satellite dish size since 2012 is 125x135cm. If your satellite dish is smaller, then you will have to use the ITV1+1 SD service, or contact me for a satellite dish upgrade.
If your satellite dish is at least 110x120cm, and you still cannot receive ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD or ITV4 HD, then your satellite dish is not a good performing satellite dish, your satellite dish is not aligned correctly, you are using a poor performing LNB, or your LNB is not correctly aligned. so contact me for a realignment call out.
