Sky Sports 5 – Activation.

So, after talking to various people / clients, it now looks like you did not have to “activate” to get the new Sky Sports 5 channel after all.

Only if you wanted the 2 years free Sky broadband offer.

Which was what Sky’s advertising was all about.

According to many people I have spoken to, Sky Sports 5 was added automatically to their Sky Sports subscription.

Even though they did not activate it or contact Sky to add it to their account.

Nice bit of PR / advertising by Sky to try and increase their broadband numbers….

Sky Sports 5 – Sky’s new Home of European Football

A preview loop showcasing the European football on Sky’s new channel, Sky Sports 5 – to be launched in August 2014.

Jun 102014

As we posted last week, ( ) BSkyB is to launch a new sports channel dedicated to European football in August.

Sky Sports 5 will be offered for free to existing Sky TV customers with Sky Sports and is to be available from 12th August 2014.

Sky Sports 5 will become the new home of Dutch Eredivisie football following the completion of a new four year deal.

Sky Sports 5 will be the home of European Qualifiers, UEFA Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey for Sky Sports viewers, plus a host of other European football programming including Revista De La Liga and Champions League Weekly.

For the first time Sky Sports will also offer exclusively live coverage of Holland’s top division Eredivisie. The new 4-year deal announced today will bring live matches each week to Sky Sports 5, enabling viewers to follow the domestic campaigns of the Netherlands’ top teams including Ajax, Feyenoord, FC Twente and PSV Eindhoven.

Sky customers will be able to register for Sky Sports 5 from June 12 via red button, online and by calling Sky.

* I have no idea what is meant by this last statement from Sky, requiring the channel to be “activated”. Why not just turn it on for all Sky Sports customers…?
