Two CBS HD coming channels soon
CBS, the mass media broadcasting company have been granted licenses for two new high-definition channels, CBS Action HD and CBS Drama HD.
The standard-definition counterparts are already broadcasted on Freesat (channel 137 and 134) and on Sky (channels 148 and 149).
CBS have always been known as a ‘free’ channel broadcaster in this country, with the majority of their channels FTA (free-to-air) available on both Freesat and Sky.
Itis unclear if these will be available for free (on Freesat), or if they will require a Sky HD subscription to view.
If they do lauch free to air then it would be a massive boost to Freesat , which presently only has 3 HD channels on the EPG; BBC1 HD, BBC HD and ITV1 HD.
It should be noted that although CBS Drama HD and CBS Action HD have been granted broadcast licences by Ofcom, this is not any official indication that the channels will actually launch. Many channels get granted licenses for channels that never appear. To suggest these two new HD channels will be available on Sky or Freesat in the near future is purely speculation at the moment, as there has been no official work about these channels from CBS themselves.
