Is Sky TV Down? Users report SkyQ box freezing problems
Tonight (15/05/25) it appears that Sky are having a few technical problems, causing Sky box problems, and issues with their internet services.
There are many reports of people having similar issues on their SkyQ boxes of “freezes with spinning blue light and won’t switch back on or off with the remote.”
A hard reset (ie unplugging from the mains power, and rebooting), seems to work for a few minutes, then the same issue occurs.
“Its happened 3 or 4 times this evening in total. Going to read a book instead ….”
Skys own website seems to be slow in loading pages and apps, some displaying a “maintenance mode” message.
So it may be an issue with Skys internet systems, especially when the SkyQ boxes are usually connected to the internet.
“i tried calling sky they can’t answer calls due to a technical fault, ”
Although Skys “system status” webpage says “no issues”, at the time of checking.
Yet “Downdetector” says there has been an increase in reports of people having problems in the last few hours.
Rebooting your Sky box does seem to help, but only for a short time.
Another suggestion would be to disconnect your SkyQ box from the internet, if the problem is with the internet / Sky servers?
Sky+HD box users, Sky Stream and NOW TV users do not seem to be affected.
Maybe something more world wide, as I am also reading that Tiktok is currently down…leaving millions of teens having to find something else to do : “No tiktok is like no internet”.
