FA Cup matches for the 2014/15 season will move to BBC and BT Sports

Jul 172013

The FA has confirmed that ITV has won exclusive rights for all England internationals from 2014/15 to 2018.

The rights now include all home and away friendly internationals having already won World Cup and European Championship qualification fixtures from UEFA.

Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport added: “This deal makes ITV the only place to watch England live in the coming years.

“By adding exclusive live coverage of England’s friendly games, both home and away, until 2018 to our exclusive rights to show live England’s competitive qualifying tournament matches over the same period, we continue to be the home of live England football.”

ITV Sport have secured the live rights to England’s competitive qualifying matches home and away for Euro 2016 and the World Cup in 2018. The main games of the “fianls” of Euro 2016 and the World Cup in 2018 are again to be split between BBC and ITV.

The four-year deal starting in September has been agreed as part of UEFA’s new strategy of central selling of European international football, for which the FA have been guaranteed a minimum £25m for their rights.

This will be the first time in a number of years that a single broadcaster has shown all England’s qualifying games for consecutive tournaments.

ITV has held the rights to England’s home games since 2008 and, since 2009, the team’s home and away friendly matches. This new deal extends their coverage to all away internationals.

Sky Sports will show the live games featuring the other three home nations, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as the Republic of Ireland.

And Sky, who have the England highlights, will also share the live broadcasts for England’s away games if they are drawn to play another of the home nations.
