Sky to close Sky Cinema Box Office service

Sky is to close its twenty year old Movie pay-per-view TV platform in January 2017.

Sky Box Office, first launched in 1996 via Sky’s analogue service, soon became one of Sky Digital’s early selling points, offering subscribers access to numerous feeds containing sports and movies, with multiple showings of films to allow a near on-demand service on linear TV. In 2011, the main part of the service became Sky Movies Box Office, later Sky Cinema Box Office.

Sky Sports Box Office will exclusively show live coverage of Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao on 2 May

Sky Sports Box Office has been awarded exclusive live rights for the UK for the welterweight world championship unification clash between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, scheduled for the 2nd May 2015.

The Mayweather and Pacquiaoone will be one of the most eagerly anticipated events in boxing history.

The Mayweather and Pacquiaoone fight will be shown live from the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The cost of the event will be £19.95 and €24.95 across all forms of booking up until midnight Friday 1 May.  From then on the cost will still be £19.95 / €24.95 if bookings are made via remote control and online, but will cost £24.95 / €29.95 if booked via the phone.  Please note an additional £2 booking fee still applies if bookings are made via a telephone agent.  Cable customers please contact your operator for booking information.
