ITV Hub to be removed soon from Humax Freesat boxes
ITV will be removing ITV Hub from Humax Freesat boxes.
This will happen at the end of
September 2022.
ITV Hub will be removed from all “G2” Freesat boxes.
The Freesat boxes affected are :
Humax Hb1000s, Humax, Hdr1000s, Humax Hdr1010s, Humax Hdr1100s and Humax Hb1100s
This will affect the majority of Freesat users who use ITV Hub (if anyone actually uses it considering what garbage ITV put on), as the Humax range of Freesat boxes was one of the most popular Freesat set top boxes around.
In a statement from ITV :
“ITV Hub will soon no longer be available on some Freesat devices
From the end of September the ITV Hub app will no longer be available on some Freesat devices. This is due to ITV working to deliver improvements and upgrade their app. The technology required to carry out these improvements is not supported by some older devices.”
What is actually happening, which the ITV statement fails to say, is that ITV Hub will be closing down anyway on all devices anyway and ITV Hub will be replaced with the newer “more content” Britbox incorporated “ITV X”.
ITVX will be available on the latest model of Freesat set top boxes, the “4k” box…(which has not 4k channels!).
For my clients, BBC Iplayer, ITV Hub and UKTV Player will be available to use in Spain on the “4k” Freesat set top boxes, using a VPN on a secondary router, to enable you to watch UK ON online content from outside the UK.
This is disgraceful We could not get freeview, cannot afford virgin or sky , we pay for hub +, just to remove adverts. As pensioners Freesat was the best we could afford. Now we are expected to buy an expensive new box , or television or change at extra cost to new provider.
Complain to ITV, who do not want to develop apps for the older boxes and TVs.
It is nothing to do with Freesat.
