What is the best sized satellite dish for Sky TV and UK TV Spain?
At the moment (February 2013) the majority of UK TV channels can be received on a 1m satellite dish in Spain.
However, there are currently a few channels, like some of the Sky Movie channels, that will require a much larger satellite dish, such as a 1.8m satellite dish (also know as a 1.9m satellite dish), or a 2.4m satellite dish.
We use a range of satellite dishes from different manufacturers including Famval (Portuguese), Marafa (Portuguese), and Tecatel (Spanish), depending on your requirements.

No viewing card or Sky subscription is required for many UK TV channels in Spain.
Chanenls like BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, CBBC, CBeebies, BBC News, BBC One HD, BBC Two HD, ITV1, ITV1HD, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, CITV, Channel 4, E4, Mor4, Film4, C4HD, Channel Five, Five USA, Five*, CBS Action, Sky News, are all available “free to air”, with no subscription card.
I have tv in south Spain Malaga what are the chances of receiving free to air sky or open box sky down here
Not too sure what the question is…?
Free to air – channel that are subscription free, eg BBC ITV C4s…
Sky – Pay channels.
Open Box – is a satellite receiver.
Free to air channels – there are many, and you can receive them but reception of some of these (BBC ITV) may change in your location with a new UK TV satellite in February 2014, and you may need a larger dish than you currently have.
You should be able to receive most of the Sky pay channels.
You should be able to receive the handful of Sky Free to air channels (Sky News, Pick, Challenge)
You can use an Open box if you wish to receive these channels.

I live in Riviera Del Sol, Costa Del Sol, Spain and it was suggested to me that the redundant Astra 1A satellite still transmits as a back-up to the current satellite. I have a Freesat box receiver. Is it possible to still receive the BBC channels, ITV, CH4 and CH5 by pointing to the old Astra 1A satellite ?
Highly doubtful considering Astra 1A was retired and became derelict in December 2004.
Thanks, is there any way of getting the above channels free with Freesat in the area?
BBC ITV C4 and Fives are all free and available on Freesat.
Sky pay channels are encrypted, and require a viewing card and monthly payment to watch… functionality which is not available on Freesat receivers, since Freesat, as the name suggests is only for the subscription FREE channels.
Although you say “in the area”, I have no idea what area of Spain you are in, but they are all available in my service area on a 110x120cm satellite dish.
